Saint Peter Roman Catholic Parish

Music Ministry

Saint Peter Parish is blessed with a strong, committed and enthusiastic Music Ministry comprised of about 50 - 55 children and adults who give their time in rehearsal to prepare good worship music that helps our community come together in song, and so enrich our liturgies. The ministry is under the leadership of Greg Becigneul, Director of Music and Liturgy. Greg invites parishioners and others who have a basic inclination toward music to consider sharing their talent with the community.

The primary goal of the Music Ministry is to support the four Sunday (including Anticipated Saturday) liturgies: masses are celebrated at 5pm Saturday, and 9:30am and 7:00pm Sunday. Choir groups have formed for each of these celebrations. They work to support the liturgy by fostering an atmosphere at worship where all members of the assembly may participate fully.

In addition to the Sunday celebrations, the Music Ministry supports special parish celebrations during the Advent and Christmas seasons, Lent, the Triduum, and Easter season, celebrations of the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Confirmation, and more. The choir groups combine to present concerts during the Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter seasons.

Our Ministers of Music are pleased to offer their services for funerals and weddings, and are willing to help when parish groups organize special services.

Choirs and Mass Times

5pm Saturday – A group of ten to twelve adults gathers 45 minutes before mass to prepare to lead the hymns and responsorial psalm. New material is taught. Familiar songs are reviewed. The psalm is prepared. Members of this group need not feel obligated to attend the weekly all choir Wednesday night rehearsal, though many do.

9:30am Sunday - Adults, youth, and children with the integral support of Lucille Benoit and Catherine Buckie, form a blended choir.

7pm Sunday – Adult and youth ensemble.

Rehearsal Sessions

Saturday Group: Rehearses for 45 minutes before mass beginning at 4pm.

Children’s Choir: Wednesday after school from 4 – 5pm in the church (open at 3:30).

All Adults: Members from the different groups work together on Wednesdays from 7:30 – 9:30pm.

Other Aspects

Musicians - In addition to voices in choir, several competent musicians lend their talents: guitar, saxophone, flute, organ and piano.
