Saint Peter Roman Catholic Parish


Saint Peter Church is located in Downtown Dartmouth with vehicle and pedestrian access available from both Maple Street and Crichton Avenue. Located next to the Church is the former Saint Peter's Junior High School where Parish events are held. The School is more directly accessed from Crichton Avenue.


The Parish Office is at the back of the Church at 10 Maple Street. Maple Street and Crichton Avenue all but join at Ochterloney Street and the latter meets Prince Albert Road on the east side of Sullivan's Pond.


The War Memorial Cenotaph and Sullivan's Pond are across Crichton Avenue from the Church.


Metro Transit have bus stops conveniently located on Crichton Avenue. Bus routes # 62 and # 54 give service to these stops.


When traveling by vehicle you can arrive at Saint Peter as follows; When traveling via the MacDonald Bridge, turn right (south) on Wyse Road. Move to the inside lane and after the Sportsplex (on your left) turn left (east) on Thistle Street and proceed up the hill to the lights at Victoria Road. Proceed through these lights to the Stop sign. This is Maple Street. Turn right (south) on Maple Street and proceed to the bottom of the hill. Saint Peter's Church is on the left before the traffic lights at Ochterloney Street.


If your travel brings you via the MacKay Bridge take the first Victoria Road turn-off and proceed south on that Street. At the 7th set of traffic lights you should reach Thistle Street where you will have Dartmouth High School on your right and Bicentennial School on the south corner of that intersection. Turn left (east) onto Thistle Street and proceed to the Stop sign at Maple Street. Turn right (south) on Maple Street and proceed to the bottom of the hill. Saint Peter's Church is on the left before the traffic lights at Ochterloney Street.


When coming via Route 101, Lower Sackville, or Bedford, proceed over Magazine Hill to Dartmouth along Windmill Road. Go through the traffic lights adjacent to the Fairley & Stevens Ford dealership. This is Victoria Road. Continue along Victoria Road and at the 7th set of traffic lights you should reach Thistle Street where you will have Dartmouth High School on your right and Bicentennial School on the south corner of that intersection. Turn left (east) onto Thistle and proceed to the Stop sign at Maple Street. Turn right (south) on Maple Street and proceed to the bottom of the hill. Saint Peter's Church is on the left before the traffic lights at Ochterloney Street.


If coming from Route 111 , turn southbound onto Prince Albert Road. Drive alongside Lake Banook, which is on your right. Depending on the direction (east or west) you are traveling on the Highway 111 you will go through 3 or 4 sets of traffic lights. Keep to the right as you pass Sullivan's Pond (Totem Pole on island) on your right. The next set of lights is at Maple Street. Turn right (north) and the Church is on your right; or just before the lights Crichton Avenue intersects and you can turn right at this junction and access to the Church and School is on your left.


Should your travels bring you into Dartmouth via Route 118 continue inbound until you arrive at the traffic lights at the "T" intersection with Victoria Road. This should be the 2nd set of traffic lights. Turn left (south) on Victoria Road until you arrive at the traffic lights at Thistle Street. Dartmouth High School will be on your right and Bicentennial School will be on the south corner of that intersection. Turn left (east) onto Thistle and proceed to the Stop sign at Maple Street. Turn right (south) on Maple Street and proceed to the bottom of the hill. Saint Peter's Church is on the left before the traffic lights at Ochterloney Street. We look forward to seeing you!
